Mehdi Nobani was the first mayor of Bandar Abbas city who participated and gave a lecture at the Urban20 Mayors Summit.

According to the report of the Communication and International Affairs Department of Bandar Abbas Municipality, the 2023 Urban20 Mayors Summit, was held with 91 mayors of the metropolitans on the 7^th and 8^th of July in Ahmedabad, India. 

The six priority areas of the 2023 Urban20 Summit building on this year’s G20 theme “One Earth, One Family, One Future” that are critical for inspiring city-level actions to respond to global agendas:(1) encouraging environmentally responsible behaviors, (2) ensuring water security, (3) accelerating climate finance, (4) championing local identity, (5) reinventing frameworks for urban governance and (6) planning and catalyzing digital urban futures. It aims to facilitate lasting engagement between the G20 and cities, raise the profile of urban issues in the G20 agenda, and establish a forum for cities to develop a collective message and perspective to inform G20 negotiations.

There was 5 thematic meeting at the summit. The first meeting with regard to the theme of encouraging environmentally responsible behaviors was held on the 7^th of July and Mehdi Nobani gave a lecture about the great importance of the city of Bandar Abbas as a coastal city located in the Persian Gulf, is one of the main ports of Iran in Silk Road and he also introduced the investment capacities in Bandar Abbas.

Nobani had a mutual meeting with Dipak Majumder the Mayor of the city of Agartala (India), Ugyen Dorji the mayor of Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, Dmitrii A.kuznesov, the head of policy of Moscow Municipality, and Olusade Adesola, the Secretary General of the Department of the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, Lucas Roberto Paredes Santos, the head of International affairs Department of Sao Paulo, Brazil and his advisor.

As extracurricular activities, Mehdi Nobani accompanying other mayors visited a company with the latest technology in waste management systems in Ahmedabad. They also visited some historical places and tourist attractions and one of the handicraft exhibitions of the city on walking.

It is worth mentioning that, the mayor of Shahin Shahr and some authorities of the municipality of Tehran also participated in this international event.
